Default Sfemg ?

Some of the responses to a thread stared by Tresa last month about SFEMG's had sugested to refrain from taking mestinon for certain periods of time before the test.

Has anyone ever been told the same about cellcept?

I don't have any experienced with discontinuing the Cellcept, but I have been told I cannot just stop this drug - If I discontinue it, it must be done gradually. Also, it can take Cellcept up to a year to make a difference with your mg.

Based on these 2 things, I don't think it would be a good idea to stop the Cellcept for your test. I think you definitely need to do some additional research before just stopping the drug.

Tony, Why are you on cellcept? This cart before the horse diagnostic process makes me nuts.

Juanita is correct that you should not stop cellcept quickly. Though some people have it's dangerous.

It takes a while for cellcept to kick in and a while for it to wear off. It wouldn't be useful to stop it for a SFEMG. It very well can make a SFEMG look normal when it wouldn't be if you were off of the drug. The very point of going on immunotherapy is to make the signs of a disease disappear. Both antibody tests and EMG tests can look normal on those drugs.

Yes, Mestinon can make the test look normal too. You should not go off of it if your MG is really bad. Nor should you go off of it without the knowledge and okay of a neurologist.

Please talk to your doctor about all of this.
