Default Home Aid agency problems

Good grief. A pretty disagreeable person called from my aid agency and asked if she can come Tues, tomorrow to do my recert. I said it was supposed to be Wednesday. She told me my nurse just quit (this the second one since July) so she had to fit me in to do. After pausing to gather thoguths I said it really wouldnt work. She didnt like this. I suggested, asked very nicely if Thursday would work. It became apparent that I didnt have a choice. I explained to her that my aid comes on Tuesday and thats all I can handle (plus it is the day I go tan too). She then threatened me and said if it cant be done I would lose my services. WOW. Barely 2 minute conversation and they threaten me? I was kinda shaken after this call as I am more in need of sameness and easy because of going to my granddaughters birthday party yesterday.

I wonder why my DHS worker put me with this agency. They dont even have a rating on the rating website. I wanted to have input into who she chose. She told me that was her job. She said it had to do with avaibiltiy. Turns out the one I wanted has openings. Hope I can get into them.

Annie, If you wouldn't mind, could you put "off topic" on these non-MG posts?

Do you have a tape recorder? Does your phone have a "speaker" function? It might be a good idea to start recording these conversations. These workers are held accountable by the state. Threatening someone who is disabled is tantamount to abuse and is punishable by law. Do you have a contract with them that allows them to choose the day they care for you . . . or else?

You will have to gather evidence and submit it to the appropriate authorities in your state, which will probably be the Attorney General's office.

There is another reason to report abuse. There are other people out there who are probably getting the same treatment. So it's a good idea to let the Attorney General know that the DHS is turning a blind eye to these problems.

Other than that, I don't have any advice.
