Its tough when you are young to have to deal with restrictions on the way you live your life. Your just a baby still and I can still just about remember how it felt being your age.

Believe me its tough at the grand old age of 37 to cope with everything life seems to throw my way!

The people on this forum care deeply about you and hence sometimes we can appear a wee bit stern. We just want to all take care of each other because with a chronic illness life can be incredibly isolating.

You are still young and a tattoo is forever. Its something regardless of the medication you are on you should think very long and hard about. No one can tell you how to live your life and no one hear is trying to.

How about you keep the idea on the back burner for 24 months? Sounds a lot but it really isn't. You may have changed your mind completely about the tattoo then or you may have bigger and bolder ideas.

Honestly my infection rate has gone down a lot since feb. Not sure if it was the cold weather or what, but I had been very sick with multiple things then like bronchitis, menigitis, sinusitis, etc. But maybe its because Im not in community living at college anymore:)

I dont know yet whether its worth it to me. I doubt anything will happen. It would be going on my back, and taking up alot of it.

My neurologist is very by the book, and very good- yet I know she is just watching out for my well being. Like i said, ill weigh the pros and cons of it.

Hope yaaalll are doin well. I start my roadtrip across to california tomorrow! First stop is NYC, then NC, then IL, then CA. Im going to make it take 20 days so im not pushed up at all.

PS. Im down to 35mg of pred, and holding there till I get settled in california, maybe upping it to 40 if i get weak..

There is another aspect to consider for people with autoimmune disease.... They mention migration of the dye from the skin into the lymphatic system.

Therefore IMO, for those who are autoimmune, then a reaction could develop just to the dye(s) themselves.
So it is not just the risk of infection that has to be considered.

I had the same question when I was still taking my prednisone. My neuro said to wait until I was atleast on lower dosages. When I got down to 30mg I received my nape peircing. I never got an infection but my body just rejected it. From what I have been told is normal. Lame. Also around that time I started my Foo dog tattoo. covers one side of my rib cage. pretty much from arm pit to hip bone. I did sessions but i never had an issue. Just keep the area clean.

im on 50 mg of pred a bunch of cellcept and mestinon and got a tattoo when i was 18 (alraedy diagnosed) never had an issue. just take care of it if you get it

I'm like you, I like tattoos and although I'm 56 I'm still getting them. But there'e a big difference between getting a small butterfly and getting a large backpeace. If you spend 5-10 getting inked it'll take it out of you even if you don't get an infection. Just think it through brother.

were you on all this stuff when you got it done?
