I meant to say 5-10 hours. I large tattoo is like a large wound when you first get it.

I got 3 tattoos in the same day over Spring Break '10 with the kids. That was Saturday. Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday, while @ work, I used the only moisturizer I had handy--Neurogena Sensitive Skin Lotion SPF 15. By Wednesday, my left leg (which had 2 tattoos: 1 large daisy on my ankle and a really large one on my upper thigh) and my right leg (very small "cameron" added to a previous tattoo), were both extremely swollen, left worse than right due to size of tattoo treated with the moisturizer. Thursday, my sister-in-law came over to see my legs, which at this point were extremely swollen up to my thighs like they were going to pop and had what she called "fever":they were very hot to the touch. She convinced me to go to the ER. So glad I did. The SPF 15 moisturizer had infected the tattoos and had lead to infection in my blood and my legs had an extreme case of cellulitis. I was hospitalized for 3 days, treated with Dilaudid for pain, Vancamycin antibiotic (very strong), and several other meds. Oh, and tested for many diseases associated with unsterile conditions in some tattoo shops (all negative thank goodness). Everyone that knows about this fiasco asks if my $3400 tattoos were worth it (which includes hospital stay...lol). I look at it this way: it wasn't my artist's fault, it was purely my ignorance that led to the issue. I am definitely read for more. Loving tattoos! |

that sucks. You should of stopped at a store and got the proper lotion for your tat. I hope the infection didnt ruin the lines and color.

Hello!
I was on cellcept too and now they changed it to smth milder. I haven't really had an infection despite being on it for 2 years. I can see why you want that tattoo so badly. I have a design I really want too, and I guess the idea is kinda similar to yours, something to mark this huge turmoil in my life that swept me from my feet at about 19 too. But I guess, it'd be a good idea to put it off till your condition stabilises? And make sure you don't get that easily infected? Perhaps look for alternatives of a smaller scale? That's just my 2cents worth, really hope you consider it carefully because it could be a matter of life and death. |
