Default Solu-medrol IV

Looks like the 10 day high dose oral prednsone isnt going to cut it this time. Breathing is still weak and now my speech is very weak and high. My throat feels kinda weird so, Im being very careful with how, and what, I eat. In the past, when this didnt work, 3-5 days of Solu- medrol IVs has helped alot.
Has anyone else tried this? My neuro said when this stops working for me, we will move on to IVIG. I never could remember in past posts what the med in the IV was called and I dont recall seeing any posts about Solu- Medrol...just curious

Solu-Medrol is usually what they give if you're in a hospital having a crisis. I had it during mine but it made me temporarily get worse before I got better. But that's just me, I'm sensitive to drugs. And I got the worst bradycardia from it (pulse in the 40's). After a couple days of that, they moved me to oral steroids. Kind of stupid, really, since I was in bed for a month after that. It does work though. A few weeks later, it looked like I'd had a facelift.

Be very careful while you're having any steroids to drastically reduce any sodium you have. It's a good idea to have flax or fish oil too, since steroids are an antiprostaglandin. Be on the lookout for any infections too and get to your doctor right away if you see signs of one. I got folliculitis after my steroids (skin infection).

And I hope you're on calcium and a separate supplement of vitamin D3 (not in a multivitamin).

Sorry, got carried away.

I have IVIG once a month for two days. Each day I have pre-meds of solu-medrol in the IV. I have been doing better and relatively stable.
