Default I'm off!

...to take care of my sister's six little kids while she's in the hospital having a baby. Actually, my mother's going to take care of them, but she's been having mental troubles and not sure she can manage. So I'm going to take care of my mother. And of course I'm not so well, so my husband's coming to take care of me. There is something very inefficient about this arrangement--seems like there'd be a better way to do this, but hey! Road trip! I'm excited. I will let you all know if my mother or I or possibly my husband collapse in the process, and anyone who's the praying type can send up a quick prayer for all of us.

Abby you got it! A prayer for you each night! I'm excited I drove today first time in 11 months. My vision is about 90% now. I have a couple of spots of double vision. Now if I can get some strength and energy back I will be so happy. I think the Imuran is slowly kicking in.
Prayers for you

Good Luck,
In today's environment I don't know how anyone could take care of and afford 7 kids...I hope they have good paying jobs with flex time! Yikes

Abby, You'll be in my thoughts. I really hope you'll have a good time. Sometimes, kids can be more perceptive and receptive than adults can and instinctively know when someone isn't doing well. I'll bet they do a bit of taking care of you.

Thanks, everyone! I had a wonderful trip. I totally wore myself out, but it was the right thing for me to do (because I never have dangerous symptoms like breathing trouble). Emotionally, I needed to be able to sweep in and take care of everybody--just for a couple of days. I felt like my old self for a while. It helped me understand a lot better how this disease is affecting me emotionally, which is half the battle.

And oh, what a beautiful baby!

Hey, thanks for the prayers--it felt like a blessed undertaking--and I'm so glad to hear you are finally improving! You and I were sort of on the same track--first IVIG around the same time, and other similarities. So your improvement is very encouraging to me. The improvement in your vision is especially encouraging, since I have the sense that double vision is one of the most difficult symptoms of MG to treat.

I would say "Be careful not to overdo it!" but that would be rank hypocrisy...

Abby just to drive again is wonderful but to play ping-pong is just out of sight. I have one more IVIG treatment on Tues but now I'm thinking my Neuro is going to order more. It could be that my Imuran is kicking in too. I'm going to ask his opinion at my next appt. Hope you get better soon.

Hey, Mike, I just challenged my little brother (he's 20, and I'm 45) to a ping-pong game in your honor. And I BEAT him! I haven't played for five or ten years. I told him I was too tired to give him a rematch, but the truth is, I don't think I could beat him again, and I'd like to rest on these laurels.

Keep ponging,

Abby
