...or at least walk slowly into one. I think soaking in cold water helps me a lot. The problem is that it takes so much energy to get to the lake, and home from it, that I don't know if it's something I can do very often. But in the cold water, I feel almost normal. I even did some swimming (not over my head). If I could get into cold water every day, I could actually get some exercise.
Someone tell me that filling up the tub with cold water is a really stupid idea...or cold showers? Aerobics while taking a cold shower? I know that exercise isn't going to fix the muscle weakness caused by MG, but I'm sure I'd feel better in other ways if I could move around more. Abby |

Love cold water! I find myself wading in water any chance I get. With wading, it eliminates me from having to change and even really drying off afterwards. Very refreshing!

You're not crazy at all!! Cold water is WONDERFUL!!
I was on cloud nine 2 years ago when we went to Lake George. My husband backed off after sticking his big toe in - but I was happier than you can imagine in that icy cold water! And at least a few times during the summer months for a treat, I put a bucket of ice cubes into my bath water. (Any one who lives in the south knows that 'cold' tap water in the summer time is more like luke warm at best!) So refreshing! |

Mike, just make sure you spend the time in the lake, and not on the shore baking in the sun! I had been driving my kids to the lake once or twice a week, and sitting on a chair in the shade while they swim to conserve energy. The next fun activity on the list on those days is Getting Mama Back To The Car. Even though I feel cool enough in the shade, in the breeze, my body evidently knows it's baking. But getting in the cold water (I'm in New England, where we have nice cold lakes) is different. You can even sit or lie in the shallows.
Hope you have a great day! Abby |

Or a pool! We had a pool in our backyard while growing up and I think it's the one thing that saved me during hot days. We had to fill it in many years back and I still "crave" a dip in a cool pool.
It can't be too cold or you'll end up with the same problem you have with your MG being "too hot." But there is absolutely nothing wrong - or "stupid" - with a cool bath or shower! When I'm out running errands, I make sure I blow my A/C on me to completely cool my core down before driving. Or have a fan on while cleaning your house. Or attempting to exercise. Or, for those of you with partners, during sex. MG and menopause/hot flashes just don't mix. |
