Default prednisone update

well the prednisone has done it,I am now on insulin the Dr put me on something called Novolin and its all becauce of the prednisone
i just cant seem to get the diabetes under control my sugar has been about 350 after eating i took a glucose tolerance test so now i am on insulin i have an appoment with my neuro i am going to see if there is some way that he would be willing to take my off the prednisone hope that i can get the diabetes back under control dr also said that the ct scan stated that i also have osteoporosis ,and blood in urine more test are needed , if i could go back in time i know that i would never have started the prednisone.
did anyone else get diabetes from the prednisone and if so do you have it under control.

Noooooo, I'm so sorry. Prednisone gave me type 2 diabetes as well. I'm told it should go away once the prednisone and it's effects are out of my system.

this link is about Cinnamon capsules helping lowering blood sugar. I don't know if it will help, but I'm trying it. I just started a couple of days ago.

Has your doctor sent you to an Endocrinologist? They can be very helpful too.
I'm so sorry you're going through this. Your levels are very high. When they get up like that, don't hesitate, get in to see a doctor pronto..
Love lizzie

p.s. I forgot, the capsules are in addition to your insulin. Also, I'm told by some that they've had problems with the diabetes even though they stopped the pred.

I am going to try the capsules cant hurt , I have this tunneled cathera in my chest for the second time they had to pull out the first one cause it got infected and I just had this one put in last Monday and today I went for the pheresis and they would not do it they called my neuro and said that it was infected so now I have to have it taken out in the morning they said that it is most likely due to the high glucose level , I am getting so depressed i know that there are people out there worst off then me and i try to think of that but i am just getting so tired i guess its just the deperession i think i just need some meds , i have went to Endocrinologist once but they cost so much i dont have any insurance so im limited to the PCP and my NEURO thanks for the info on the Cinnamon capsules i am willing to try anything ...

I know it's hard when you're right smack in the middle of it all. Sometimes, I just want to scream to the top of my lungs in frustration over how my body seems to betray me all the time. It's kind of like, just when I get a handle on one thing, something else rears it stupid little ugly head. And then I have to deal it.
Not being able to control the glucose, can really wear you down physically, and emotionally. If you haven't already, the american diabetes foundation has a lot of good information on their site.
I hope these cinnamon capsules work. According to the article, you can sprinkle cinnamon on whatever, or in whatever, and it's suppose to have the same effect. (just incase you can't find the capsules, we found them at walmart)
Best wishes...littlewish
Love Lizzie
