I am curious about the dbl vision. I have been DX with MG and take 4 / 60mg of mestinon daily - helps the muscles some, but I have vision issues and would not say its double vision?
To me its more like watching a tv show where someone is trying to hold a video camera and its bouncing all around. I seem to have a lot of issues when I see things moving - sometimes driving is a real task as the cars and stuff moving make me extremely dizzy. I have not been dx's with ocular mg but something sure goes on? Now let me add that I have fought allergies all my life and it seems that when I get an inflamed feeling, and sinus pressure, that these episodes are at their worst. It can be common for me to have a sweaty forehead and I am wondering if the inflammation is making the mg worse or if most of the problems are more sinus inflammation only related? Tough to figure out this mg stuff for sure... |

Smokey, it sounds like a neuro-ophthalmologist would be able to help you figure it out. I know MG can do all sorts of things to your eyes. When mine are weak, they seem to not move smoothly or something, so things jump around.
On the other hand, don't just assume it's the MG that's causing it. A significant portion of people with MG also have Graves disease (don't worry, this one is a breeze compared to MG!), which makes your thyroid overactive. The antibodies tend to collect behind the eyes, which can cause vision disturbances. I thought of it because you mentioned a sweaty forehead. One other thing to keep in mind is that migraines cause a feeling of pain and pressure in the sinuses. A lot of people who assumed they were having sinus headaches actually have migraines. Sometimes I get into a sort of chronic low-level migrainy state even without much of a headache--and motion makes me dizzy and nauseous, especially out of the corner of my eye (it sounds silly, but I make the kids not jiggle their legs while I'm reading to them, because it makes me "car sick.") These are just things to keep in mind, and perhaps ask a doctor about. I hope you can figure it out, and find something that helps. Abby |

Smokey,
My daughter had a similar phenomenon during an episode of nystagmus. She couldn't practice her trombone because it looked like the music was bouncing around and she couldn't focus on it. I couldn't see any eyeball shaking just looking at her, but when I asked her to follow my finger from side to side, her right eyeball would slightly jerk and jump instead of going smoothly across. |

Thanks Abby and Geo, all inputs are appreciated.
it seems at times my eyes cannot keep up with the needed adjustments as things move - I have trouble just typing this - I feel like I am typing way to fast and hence make mistakes and my eyes trying to follow my fingers ( that's the way I type ) makes me a bit dizzy... My neuro is pretty good - he is quick to tell me when he does not know an answer and suggests another Dr to see. He has promoted a thymectomy several times to me and that may happen. First he wants me to go to St Louis to a group of neuro's that specialize in MG and related illnesses to verify what we are dealing with and perhaps how to treat. Its about a 2 hour drive from home so doable and probably a good idea. The nystagmus sounds very on target for what I feel and the inflammation behind the eyes fits your input well Abby... Thanks! MG causes ooo many problems its often hard to tell what the heck is causing what! |

Hi Everyone,
I am very new to this forum and not sure if I doing this right. That said, I have been having intermittent horizontal double vision. I have had ct thymus and blood test for the mg antigen and both of these were ok. But what worries me is the double vision comes then goes so that I can fix this with spectacles. I am wondering if anyone in the forum had initial similar symptoms. |

Has anyone found a contact lens that completely blocks out light from an eye? Sick of wearing an eye patch already.
