Question MG and Drugs

Jana, Would you mind if we worked on the MG drug list? I can put it together in a PDF for the stickie thread, with lovely colors and everything. Well, of course not now because I'm about to crash and need energy for the weekend!

What do you guys think? Will you help? Any ideas of how to put the list together, like color coding, etc. (like the list Jana has) would be great. No, we are not doctors but we are getting all of this info from them. It simply needs organizing in a clear way.

I could put a draft PDF up here and then you guys could hack away at it, so we could come up with the best one. It's one of those things that gets asked about over and over again.

Thanks. It would be nice to feel useful for a change.

Annie

Annie, I think this is an AWESOME idea!! Everytime I've gone looking for a list -- it has been HARD to find. Difficult to find the "right" terms to "Google" --

I had to go digging in the bottom of my purse at my last appointment (my ziploc of MG info) -- my doc wanted to give me something that I was pretty sure might be a problem. We can NEVER be too careful, right??

I agree -- waiting until after the holidays have settled down would be good.

I'm in! (after the holiday recovery period, that is)

How wonderful it would be to have a comprehensive list, easily accessed, that we could keep updated as new info and new drugs become available!!

Great idea AnnieB. Lists are the most helpful things of all.

Thanks for all you do.

I haven't been responding much but I'm still here.

Well, the jury is still out on whether or not I have MG, but I do think a list would be great, just don't forget to include vitamins and minerals. I happened to snooping around the net, and I notice taking (extra) Potassium and Magnesium are a no-no.

that is a wonderful idea...my husband just had surgery and i handed everyone that would come in contact with him the list i had but doubt it was complete...BUT even though the aesthesiologist kind of made a smart comment he came back within 2 min to discuss the possibility of needing to give a couple in an emergent situation BUT at least i know he was paying attention to the situation

thats the one thing i get in hospitals that annoys me soooooo much. doctors will scoff at an answer to a question they asked you and go about doing their business according to what they think the answer should have been. its been happening less and less because i dont let it slide anymore. but this is one thing that jumped out at me when u said it, ive seen that look before

Okay, great, thanks for the feedback. If you guys have any info or drug experiences to add, that would be very welcomed. I imagine references at the end would be necessary so docs like the ones Brandon and others have run into take it seriously.

It needs to legible, so I won't do blocks of red, yellow, etc. Though I think that color coding is necessary. The black box warning drugs need, well, a black indication.

I'm slow these days but I'll help get it done. My hands suck, especially in this colder weather.

Any input you have would be great. I'll get a draft together when I can.

I just wanted to add that I'll make sure over-the-counter drugs, food and drinks (like coffee) are put on the list as well. Refer to Violet's post about that!

Default Meds List

It would be great while I am awaiting a definitive diagnosis to know what if any vitamins you all feel would be helpful. No treatment while I am awaiting the firm diagnosis has to be the worst!

Thanks,
