[note from Abby: I found this in the "my diagnosis" sticky thread. I'm moving it here so that more people will see it.]

I know you will think of me as crazy, but did your husband have polio as a kid? What you are describing to me sounds like my husband. It was hard to find a Dr who reconizes it today because its not a TODAY disease. Its an old disease we don't see today. An Older Dr might reconize what is happening. There is Post Polio Syndrom that comes back about 30 to 40 years after they had it. Hope this helps. Good luck.

SO sorry to hear yall are going through this!!! I agree the not knowing is awful!!! I always assumed the worst case scenerio with myself
Sounds like good news that the MRI's were basically "clean".. have they done a CK level on him? inflammatory markers like Sed rate, CRP?? have yall seen a neurologist and/rheumatologist, and or orthopedist, and or hematologist?? were his CBC and chemistries normal? (sorry for all the questions, I just want to help yall if we can, and the more info the better!) how about EMGs?? Sometimes the hoarse feeling could be something as simple as allergies/run down/fatigued body etc.. Is your hubby or has he been a smoker? I'll keep yall in my prayers that yall find answers for something treatable soon! |
