So finally I've discovered that Mestinon helps me, a lot! I was just taking too much before. Half a tablet every five hours seems to be right for me.
Unfortunately, after about a week on Mestinon, I have an ache in my left eye. It hurts especially when I move my eyes. I remember this pain from last time I was on Mestinon. Does anyone know if whatever the drug is doing to my eye could cause permanent damage? Does anyone have any suggestions for preventing or alleviating the eye pain? On Mestinon, I wasn't "normal," but I was walking fine. Today I didn't take any Mestinon and by the evening, I was having a lot of trouble walking again. Abby |

Is it eye pain, muscle pain or nerve pain? Can you tell?
I'm glad it's helping. And I'll bet that's reassuring. Have you thought of calling Valeant Pharmaceuticals to ask about whether Mestinon causes eye pain and why? Annie |

Hmm. I can't really tell. It hurts mostly when I move it. It feels like a muscle pulling. My neurologist said Mestinon can cause "eye cramps." I see him soon, and I'll ask for details.
Yes, it's very reassuring! I'm starting to feel like a normal myasthenic. Abby |
