Question Lightheadedness

Hi All!
Often throughout the course of a day I will have lightheadedness. This happens alot in the morning as I am getting ready for the day. I take Mestinon and have since diagnosis, four times a day. A couple of months ago I was taken off of Imuron because I had been on it for five years and their is a risk of other diseases if you stay on it too long. Now I am just on Mestinon and wonder if I need something else? When I get lightheaded I also have a time of yawning, sounds crazy, but I do. I go sit and rest for a bit. Anyone else have this experience?

Thanks

Do you know what your O2 levels are at? Both lightheadedness and yawning are symptoms of oxygen deprivation.

You really should speak with your GP and get a referral to a pulminologist (if you don't have one already).

I get light-headed because my bloodpressure is low (usually around 90/60 or 100/70). I also get lightheaded with the double vision.

You might be dehydrated. Do you drink enough water during the day? Often, our bodies aren't hydrated enough first thing in the morning.

Like Brian said, it could also be your MG and not enough oxygen getting to your body. Have you been evaluated for sleep apnea? Some pulmonologists are sleep study certified and can do both pulmonary and sleep testing for you. They can also do an overnight oximetry. If they have the ability to do an in-home sleep study, that would be best. I sure couldn't sleep well during a sleep study!

Dizziness isn't normal, no matter what the cause. I think seeing your primary doctor AND a pulmonologist might both be necessary. It's best to rule out a problem, especially when you feel like you are "air hungry." When was the last time you had an ECG or cardiac workup? Are you possibly anemic?

I hope you figure it out. Take it easy!

Annie
