Hi Everyone
I have a diagnosis of myasthenic weakness (3 years total not counting pregnancy and in remission now) all based on clinical history alone from a wonderful neurologist 30,000 km from where I live!!!! Does anyone happen to know anything about classifying muscle weakness in pregnancy? According to another helpful member of this forum it is in my best interests to actually have had it start in pregnancy. So.......does this count??????

When I was pregnant I did have some very minor deltoid and trunk muscle weakness. I also had swallowing problems but that were of a totally different kind to the ones I got years later. During pregnancy it was the ´globus´ type where mouthfuls of food refused to go down with water and muscles just quit whilst I was in the best of moods! ) I put this down to excess progesterone. The neurologist I mentioned was of the opinion that this was the actually the START of an immunological myasthenic process. HOWEVER.... I had one whole year after my son was born with no muscle weakness whatsoever (nice for us )
6 years later swallowing problems came back but the type of swallowing problem changed around completely and would be more about gagging on liquids, unpredictably lazy epiglottis, last tiny particle of food from the meal would get stuck in esophagus (I smiled for a work photograph once with a single grain of rice stuck fast for 20 minutes!!)

My son got stuck in the birth canal as contractions stopped up totally even with administration of oxytocin and fundus mal procedure.
(I know these are smooth muscles so shouldn´t really count in myasthenic weakness) He was born with a hematoma and at only 3 days old developed ptosis in one eye. He still has this now six years later if he gets a throat infection or illness of some sort. He ended up with the ptosis part of the package and I got the limb and bulbar weakness part! But for sure he wasn´t born with floppy limbs or anything. In fact even the nurse was surprised he actually managed to lift his head up and look at us!

Surely everyone has some eccentric processes going on that make our bodies behave erratically during pregnancy?
Does anyone have an opinion/knowledge about this?

Anti-MuSK, Ach-R, thyoma scan, SFEMG all negative..... Just 3 years of fluctuating and progressive muscle weakness
