Default Mestinon & Ptosis

Hi everyone –

I am a new member, and was originally diagnosed with MG in 2004. I went on Mestinon and Prednisone for 1 and ½ years before having a thymectomy in 2006. After the surgery, I was weaned off Prednisone and Mestinon and the MG went into remission until January of this year, when the symptoms returned.

Before I did not have Ptosis as a symptom, but I do now. I am currently taking 60 MG of Mestinon twice a day, and my muscle weakness has improved, but the Ptosis and double vision has not improved that much. I have not gotten back on Prednisone yet, and was hoping to not have to.

In reading through many posts, it appears that Prednisone does help some with Ptosis, but was wondering if Mestinon had helped others with Ptosis and double vision, and also wondering if it would help to increase the dosage of Mestinon some. It is another month before my next scheduled visit with my neurologist.
