Cool Update on My Brother

I spent the Labor Day weekend with my brother in another state, a thousand miles from my home. He was hospitalized in ICU and was given IVIG. His condition had deteriorated to the point that he could no longer swallow and both of his eyes had shut. They had to insert a feeding tube through his nose. When I first saw him, his face was flaccid and I couldn't understand his speech. He looked emaciated. His wife had to interpret and sometimes even she couldn't understand him. They started him on steroids on the 5th or 6th day of his stay, the same day I had to return home. He looked better than even a year ago. His speech was almost normal. Both eyes were almost completely open and he was eating candy!! I don't know if it was the IVIG or the steroids or both that made the change. He's now in the care of a neurologist that he trusts, so I hope they can keep the MG under control.
