Hi Christa,

Yes, you can't PM yet because you are new. Soon, grasshopper, soon!

I have worked with 3 of the doctors at UTSW and found them all to be knowledgeable and easy to communicate with, but in different areas. After a couple of years I settled on one and asked that I be seen exclusively by that doctor.

As a new patient coming in, I would suggest that you take "first available" as far as doctors go. I was there last week and when I went to make my 6 month follow up I discovered my doctor was booked until next August! Please be prepared for a long wait to be seen the first time, and ask to be put on the cancellation list. You may also want to throw in the tidbit that you'd been scheduled to see Dr Howard, but moved to TX instead!

Once you get into the system, you will be seen in the MDA clinic (you will never pay for office visits!) If you don't mesh well with the doctor, you can request to be seen by someone else. If there is ever an emergency (as has been the case with me), you will not have to wait---they will see you! It's the getting in that is frustrating.

Hope this helps...keep posting and you will soon be able to PM!

I'm pretty sure I can't thank you enough for that information! Very, very helpful! Thank you. And I did have one appointment with Dr. Howard, with a second scheduled- so if that's good, I'll mention it!

Christa,

I would suggest you contact Dr Howard's office to have your records transferred and perhaps get a referral to UTSW. Let me know when you make your calls!
