See the "new study" thread below for more, but I just read another article and learned two new things: first only 15% of the MG patients who scored low on the smell test* knew their sense of smell was impaired. And second, the article mentions MG causing hearing problems as well.

Thanks for the interesting article. It was a little difficult and disorganized to read. Besides all the muscular effects and fatigue, I have noticed changes in my very short term memory and in recalling words that should be very familiar. Otherwise, I feel my brain is just as sharp.

That's really interesting Abby. I have only just recently realized that my sense of smell comes and goes, but is mostly much weaker than it has ever been. I wondered if it was an MG thing. The part in the article about a loss of the sense of smell being a first sign for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, I admit, has me a bit depressed.

And hearing too? Really? It's not enough that some days I can barely lift my thin blanket to get out of bed, barely keep my eyelids open, must struggle to perform every basic task? No? Not enough? Well throw in the hearing and smelling too then!
