Smile Walking difficulties

What I've found this last year is how a simple walk is such a challenge just to avoid bumping in to people and trying to walk in a straight line or they decide their not going to continue to keep going then theirs the days when their really good. First few years I never had any real problems with my legs and could walk miles

Alan,

Avoiding and trying to predict the paths of other people while walking is a challenge for me, too.

I use a cane when outside of my home, and this generally serves as a notice to others that I am a person who has "walking issues".

Not always.

Still need to be alert to the hurried walker, the cell-phone-chatting walker, the kids-on-both-arms walker, the arm-in-arm lovey-dovey walkers, the dog-walker, other "challenged" walkers, and the "I just learned to walk" walker! I try to choose my walking times and paths very carefully. But it is not always easy.

SoftTalker Sue

p.s. I too, was able to walk miles at a time. Now, I am grateful for the short amounts of time I am able walk. Always on the look-out for a place to sit! (Just in case.......)

Not on Pednisone any more had a lot of problems with it and I know just how
Important it is not to over do it
Don't quite get why MG. affect the legs and chooses different parts to attack

Alan, I'm sorry you can't walk much anymore. Are you at risk for atrophy in your legs due to lack of use?

Wouldn't it be great if we could predict MG? That's the worst part. If I walk too far, my legs will have a hard time holding a contraction in between Mestinon doses for a few days.

I'm glad it's not a constant problem for you. I hope the fall weather in the U.K. is not too rainy.

I have to admitt to becoming quite a super rude pedestrian in the times when I was able to get about walking. Supermarkets were a particular nightmare. I would always take a trolly and use it to barge my way through people. My time of being upright was limited and if I politely waited for the ditherers to get out of the way I would have been on the floor. People may think I am just being rude and impatient (which is at least partly true) but the fact is it's the only way I was going to make it around.
