One can be divided to an infinite number of pieces. Depending on the number of tasks at hand divide your one thing into many. People will understand if you consistently do 1/4. They find it hard to understand if you do 1 and then 0, unless you consistently do so. Also remember that there is more than one day. you can do that one task over 4 days instead of one. As long as there is a clear pattern, it is much easier to adjust. |

My house has gotten messier and messier over time. My husband doesn't notice or care. If he did, he would probably do more of the housework. It drives me crazy, but I can only do so much. I have about hiring somebody to help with housework, but it is very difficult to find someone willing to drive out to this rural area.

I totally depend on my husband for so much. Since the start of this horrible journey, he has had more and more on his plate not only with me and our pets but with his job. I have had two caregivers over the last three years who helped with the housework and laundry until I could become strong enough to be able to do it myself with some help from my husband. Then I could only clean one room at a time and have to rest for a day or two.
I have been very worried about him during all this because he's the type person that holds everything inside until he explodes and when that happened he would have an emotional "breakdown" and express how worried he is about me and what will happen if he should become sick or worse. We have no children however my two siblings would take care of me but they are in their late 60's. Now my husband was laid off this past June and is going to apply for early retirement so there is less stress on him and he has been able to help me in more ways. I know how lucky I am to have a supportive husband because I cannot live on my own. Southern Bell :grouphug: |
Southblues, I am glad your husband will be okay.
Try not to worry too much about him - and the possibility of being without him. I too, live alone, and indeed, it is difficullt. My family support is very limited, as my only family (son and daughter-in-law) live about 50 minutes (driving time) away from me - and they are very busy with their young family. Hugs to everyone dealing with this issue. :grouphug: |
