Default IVIG Maintenance Insurance Denial Update

Just as fyi for others concerned about getting approval...my insurance denial was initially based on insurance company position that IVIG for maintenance was experimental and investigational. My doctor said he was surprised that was basis although he had seen denial when basis was claim of disagreement with a doctor's diagnosis (that was not my case).

My doctor was finally able to connect with Aetna and he challenged/appealed the denial and now they have approved for four treatments. US Bioservices is now in process of setting up home infusion with local company in Fort Lauderdale - I hope it is a fast process as my condition has been getting progressively worse the last four weeks - but who knows, seems everything takes so long so I will do what I can and wait. :-)

Steph, I sure hope it helps. It seems like our lives have become a hurry up and wait type thing.

I know every company operates differently so there's obviously no guarantees, but once my initial IVIg treatment got approved by insurance (which took about two weeks), the company I had was able to provide my treatment the next week. If I recall correctly, I got a call on Wednesday that it had been approved and they had meds delivered to me by Friday to begin treatment on Monday.

Hope it works out that quickly for you!

Steph

It just seems like yesterday that we were all chatting away about iPads and painting by numbers.....
Looking so forward to hearing that things are in fact moving quickly for you and that 2013 brings you some relief
and maybe a little progressive remission as well

so glad they approved some treatments.. i just hate that someone sitting in an office somewhere can make the decision to not give us something that is so beneficial therefore affected our lives so much... Hoping they get it to ya quickly and you notice great improvement!
