Default first fall

Well, I had my first fall on Saturday. I bumped into the coffee table in my living room and could not get my balance and fell over. It was only a slight bump into the table and I should have been able to recover but my legs just would not respond fast enough so I fell to the side rather than into the table. My leg is rather black and blue.

I have a lot of difficulty manuvering around objects but can walk in a straight line rather well. Of course the hardest part was getting back up again. I had to use my arms to pull myself up. My legs were not able to assist at all.

I have made so many compensation and accomodations in my lifestyle that I almost begin to forget how weak my legs really are.

It is very scary when you are home by yourself. I felt like I needed one of those emergency buttons to call for help.

Here's hoping for a better New Year and a diagnosis,
kathie

Sorry to hear about it. I'm glad you didn't break anything.

Do you need a coffee table?

I run into walls and can trip on air. It really sucks having a disease that makes you so off balance.

I hope you'll heal up from the bruises. If your legs don't "work," that can be an emergency situation.

I couldn't hurt to look into those call buttons you wear. Some MGers who have trouble with their bulbar/speaking muscles actually have recordings to play to a 911 dispatcher.

Yes, I too hope you do get a diagnosis and treatment plan ASAP.
