Default Prednisone / insomnia question

Hi there, I know pednisone can cause insomnia.
I have this "problem": I'm tired all day, but in the evenings it's always less. I used to have real sleepingproblems (2 hours sleep max,which wasn't enough, but I just couldnt get to sleep) but I was on a much higher dosage.

I know some people take it in the morning and evening, and some take it in the evening.

I take it around 10 am, but I don't understand this problem with my biological clock: I want to sleep all day, and when it's bedtime I get muchmore awake.

Do you guys know if taking it in morning and evening (half dosage of course) will help?

Don't take it in the evening or you'll be in trouble. The body's natural level of cortisol peaks around 4 to 7AM - see if you can take your entire dose very early. Good luck.

I used to take prednisone with my Crohn's Disease, but never after 6 p.m. for sure.

My doc's recommendation was to take it before 7:00 am - I keep it in my bathroom and when I get up to use the bathroom (if it is after 5:00 am), I take it then. If I take it later than 7, I have insomnia. Good luck finding what works for you!

You could talk to your doctor about natural ways to improve insomnia. I would bet that Mrs. D. would have some suggestions too. Dr. Oz has talked about it. If it involves any supplements, however, you need to talk to your doctor before even taking Melatonin!

Do you have PTSD, by any chance? Some people with PTSD, me included, have a hard time getting to sleep. If this is the case, you might need to see an expert to help with that. I know Pred can cause insomnia but don't rule out other causes or ways to help it.

Insomnia is not good for MG, so I hope you can figure out things to help you get back to a normal schedule.

When I had trouble sleeping during menopause my doctor recommended valerian root and it really helped. that was before MG. I do not know if it has contraindications with MG or related medications

Thanks all! Oh, I find it interesting it's better to take it so early in the morning. I guess I have to try that!

I've tried valerian, and all kinds if stuff. Annie, what is PTSD? Is that something with your menstruation?
