Default Neurologist visit today

Finally after a year with this neurologist, he is going to have me checked for a thymoma. Apparently he thought my last neurologist did it. Geez. I hate to hope that I have a tumor, but if there were something that somebody could cut out and make me well, I would be all for it.

He wrote me a prescription for prozac. I am definitely depressed. My creativity is at a new low. I should be writing songs and books and taking tons of cute animal pictures.

He also said that the imodium that all you folks here told me to take was ok to use.

I'm glad you mentioned it to your neurologist.
Try to get it followed up asap!

It is a long journey ahead. Stay strong!

Even if there is not a thymoma, if there is an enlarged thymus or hyperplasia, they often take out the thymus now. I am hoping I am a candidate for a thymectomy. From what I have read, there is a 30% chance of remission with a thymectomy, and a 75% chance of improvement of symptoms.

I take effexor and it is just enough to take the edge of the stress and does not make me sleepy, just in case the prozac does not work out.

Let us know the results of the CT of the thymus.
Best of luck

I would gladly have surgery if it would just decrease my symptoms. I want to be able to get through a normal day and still be able to walk, talk, swallow, and see.

Celeste, I didn't know how badly your MG was doing. I'm sorry about that.

I hope you'll check with your pharmacist about any interactions between whatever drugs you're taking. Neurologist are great and all but they are not drug experts. I'd hate for you to have an interaction between drugs (or foods and drugs).

And no offense to your neuro or you but only each person's doctor can decide what prescribed or OTC drug will be okay for them to use or not. So many people die every year from drug mistakes.

I hope you'll discuss SAM-e and B12 with your primary doctor. There are so many other ways to fight depression than drugs. If a drug works for you, that's great. I'd suggest a psychiatrist or psychologist but if you can't even talk well, that'll just make things worse! Have you spoken to your primary doctor about your depression? What if it's a physical condition such as low hormones making you feel depressed?

Not feeling like creating is just horrible. It's so hard when you have an illness to feel like you have any value, especially when you can't work. But you ARE of great value and you should put a sign up on your wall reminding yourself of that!!! Your humor alone is enough to celebrate. I always giggle every time I read it. I hope the drug helps.
