I had a dentist appointment last week which I always dread because I sometimes feel awful the days after. I only had my teeth cleaned but also had a fluoride treatment. That was last Tuesday and today is Saturday and I still feel incredibly weak. Anybody else ever have a problem with fluoride? Now in hindsight, I can recall as a childe having a raspberry gel fluoride treatment and went home and got violently ill (to this day I cannot stand anything raspberry flavored). Now I'm wondering about my toothpaste, water, etc.

I have not had a dentist appointment since my definitive diagnosis 6 months ago. But I have been symptomatic for years and had cleaning every 6 month and a tooth filled last year with novacaine without any ill effects. But any stress makes me ill these days. I think it might more likely be the general stress (adrenaline rush) that exaccerbated the MG than the fluoride. Just a thought.

My dentist has a family member with MG--what are the odds? As a result, he is cautious and informed. He calls my doctor before he gives me an antibiotic, for example.
My dentist orders a freezing solution that does not contain adrenaline. I think I mentioned to him that "the infamous needle" relaxes me to the point of sleep which is an unusual (or paradoxical) reaction to say the least. It's important to keep up your dental health. If you have trouble keeping your mouth open, they have a little gadget for that. Tell your dentist (and hygenist) that if you raise your arm (what ever signal works for you) they are to stop. And thanks...you and Kathie have reminded me that it's time for a cleaning... |

I don't really get flouride treatments anymore :/ Unless its in the polish they use, I'm not sure. I remember hating them as a kid though, god that stuff tasted awful. I haven't noticed any MG symptoms after, other than just a bit tired and weak int he mouth & tongue from holding my mouth open and all that. I get the usually icky feeling after
![]() It could be because you hate the dentist also, I'm sure that doesn't help the after taste. I know that Kiss My Face's triple action and whitening toothpastes are flouride free. I use them, they're nice! They're all natural ingredients. ![]() |
