I was switched from 240 mg Instant Release Mestinon in a 24 hour period to 180 mg Slow Release tabs twice a day recently. I took my 1st dose last night. I woke with a great deal of arm/leg discomfort approx 3 hours later, had bizarre dreams, tossed and turned, and woke with intense abdominal cramping around 5 am. Upon rising, I found my vision to be blurred. Put a hot pack on my tummy, took a Tylenol #2 and went back to sleep for several hours. I really do not want to take another tab today, but the Pharmacist suggest I attempt to see if these symptoms resolve. My GP told me to "tinker" with the instant release tabs as needed...any input would be appreciated.

2 x 180 = 360, so you are taking 50% more than when you were doing 240mg a day. It may be that it is too much for you.
But try tinkering. Try 1 Slow release but earlier in the evening, and then "fill in" the next day with the Instant release. But watch your daily total. |
