Default Told Co-workers I Have MG

Well, Initially I did very well on pregnisone, with very little side effect. All my pain went away, I had stamina and strength that I had not had in over a year. When I got down to 25mg, all the symptoms came back strong. I start IVIG on Monday and will be out of work for 8 days.

SInce it is MG awareness month, all my MG symptoms were back and I heard a few mumble of co-workers making the wrong assumptions about my condition, I decided it was time to tell the truth. I asked my bosses permission and hung up a bunch of MG poster printed off the internet. My boss called a departmental meeting and I explained to my dept (15 people) that I had MG and what it is. They asked alot of questions, and I answered them frankly. I also asked them to spread the word to my division so co-workers were no longer making the wrong assumptions.

I feel I had to do this and I am relieved that I no longer have to hide my symptoms or pretend I am fine. I am sure that there will be individuals that will still circulate rumors or provide misinformation, but I think I made the right choice.

I bought an MG awareness bracelet off of Etsy and wear it all the time. My daughter asked me to get her one too. I guess I realize I am not going to be one of the easier cases that respond well. So I need to embrace this.

I probably need to tell my boss so she won't think I am lazy. I'm glad you got your nerve up and told them.

Wonderful! It will certainly help to alleviate the stress involved in hiding something. Tell yourself that you don't care about people who make uneducated, or unkind remarks because for every one of those, there will be people who will go out of their way to help you, and often, it's the people we least expect.

Change the way you think and tell yourself, "In time, or tomorrow, I could very well become one of the easier cases..."
