Default exercise and mestinon

Does anyone exercise regularly and take mestinon? Do you take extra mestinon before exercising? I was wondering if that would be helpful. I just feel like maybe if I had more mestinon I could exercise more and not run out of energy. Or is it just impossible to really ever be physically fit again?

Hi mimc,
My answer is both “yes“ and “no“...
When I have some physical work to do, I do take an extra Mestinon.
For example a couple of years ago, I was taking 2 x 60 mg per day when we took a week tour in Sicily in June. We had warm weather and we did much sightseeing, walking, stair climbing, standing in the sun to listen to the guides etc... and a 3rd Mestinon did the job!
I try to swim every day (250 to 450 meters dependind on my mood and on the weather!) but I wouldn´t increase my dose to swim longer...
Also, Pred could cause in the long run muscle atrophy and I think it is advisable for those who are on Pred (my case) to regularly exercise to avoid that situation, but again one should not overdo it, specially on a continuous basis.
Maurice.

It all depends on the severity of your MG, how effective your treatment, how long you have had it and if your muscle have lost their strength from lack of use. It is all what you feel comfortable with. You know your body best and you know what it is telling you.

For me, it is a no-brainer, I have had too many falls just walking. Unsupervised physical exercise is out for me!

thanks
kathie

I believe it was Mark Twain who said "I often get the urge to exercise. I lay down until it goes away."

I'm afraid that's my sentiment also. Any kind of exercise quickly exhausts me. I do well to get around period.

This thread inspired me to try to do a little walking before work. I am so tired I really can't function now. Dang it.
