Default I despise Germs!

Anyone else have this problem when they get a cold or something that used to be minor? I have such an exacerbation of my symptoms, its frustrating.. I had fever and body aches etc... I usually have joint pains, but when I get an illness everything hurts worse, and then I get so weak.. I have to waddle around since my muscles don't work well, swallowing gets worse, double vision and my right eye gets pretty droopy ... makes me scared to get sick, but with two small kids its going to happen.. anyhow, just curious if others struggle with this?

You aren't alone in this, Bny. A cold, the flu, or any other diagnoses for that matter, can and will affect myasthenia. Even more so when one is on an immunosuppressant.

Everyone, wash your hands like Lady "MacBeth!"

As of now, germs seem to bite me and die. My immune system works well. It kills germs and attacks me. I am worried about getting on immunosuppressants. I am exposed to all kinds of germy people at work.

Default Hi Bny

Yes, I am a bit freaked by germs. I do use the wipes at grocery stores, watch how I use public restrooms, opening doors with paper towel or my sleeve. I take wipes with me to all public venues. I have 4 auto immune conditions, and you bet I don't do that great getting rid of the so called common cold. Just do what you can do to be careful. That's all any of us can do. I wish you all the best. ginnie

Thanks Ya'll!! Sorry yall have this too - I Have a 2 and a 3 year old, so they are constantly bringing germs home.. I work around germs too, but I stay pretty protected when I'm out and about (I'm a hand sanitizer freak)! But I just can't miss out on my snuggles and time with the kids when they are sick - I want to take care of them- the airborne respiratory illnesses is usually what gets me infected.... This time I had hormones, work and this illness all at once.. I feel awful..

I feel like when I cough I'm going to strain/pull my abdominal muscles they feel so weak... my pulse rate also goes up to at least the 120's when I am sick like this.. when I'm walking around or something.. And, I just have to avoid looking at mirrors as my face looks like it is melting off my skull! Pretty!

I am not on immunosuppressants, but they are talking about cellcept or immuran.. I'm too terrified that a common cold will then make me super sick and could land me in the hospital again.. so I'm trying to avoid them for now..

Default Hi Bny

Immunosupressant therapy is what I did for almost 10 years in a trial Study. Never got the results, or any data from it. However it is 20 years later, and I still wonder if it hurt or helped me. I took a form of chemo called DNCB. This stopped my immune system from attacking me as a foreign object. I thought about IVG therapy, and passed on it. My own opinion is that while I was in the study, I remained healthy but since then the auto immune problems have continued on. What have you tried? ginnie
