I usually post in the Peripheral Neuropathy forum, but thought I would drop in and read a little on this forum.

I noticed Bluestone's comment on the study of Myasthenia and cooling the body's temperature and wondered if someone would explain this to me. I don't think I have Myasthenia, although years ago I tested positive for the antibodies. I do have a number of neuro issues.

I also wondered if Myasthenia causes pain.

Basically it's about the benefits for myasthenics of cooling the body's temperature by using a suit filled with cool water. It's a preliminar study, but if you see the bibliography you can see that are other studies on this area.

About pain and myasthenia: almost all sites say that myasthenia doesn't cause pain. BUT: almost all myasthenics disagree. The fatigue in the muscles causes pain. The muscles not relaxed cause pain. There are pains in the muscles that are not yet involved basically because they are doing extra work. All this is from my experience. I have generalized MG and have to deal with pain almost every day. I'm doing physiotherapy and it's helping me a lot.

I'm one that has pain with my MG. Although it is not so much pain as aching. I often try to describe it as the ache a normal person would get after doing 10 more sit-ups than their muscles want to do. It basically is the ache of fatigue.
Most medical literature says MG doesn't produce pain, but they really need to rewrite the books! Hopefully some day someone will, and they'll start educating the neuros to deal with the pain their patients face.
