Thanks for all of the reply's. The company my doctor contacted is also a Walgreen's company. They told me only part D pays for inhome. I would still have the medical part. That would be $3100 plus $100 dollars a day for the nurse. After I asked they did say Medicare pays for treatment in an infusion center.

They really tried to push me to inhome. They said it was better in your home setting. They tried to get me to apply for their financial aid package. They said I may get 20% aid or even 100%. They then had the doctors triage nurse try to get me to apply for the aid.

They have infusion centers but I don't believe any of them are in Jacksonville. The Doctor is part of Baptist neurology. Baptist does have an infusion center in Jacksonville so I don't know why he wanted to use the Walgreen's company. It is all very confusing. The nurse was finally convinced that I would rather drive 20 miles each way for the 5 days rather than pay at least $3600. I am not sure that even includes the drug part. If it did not the drug costs would certainly push me into the donut hole for part D medicare coverage costing thousands more.

Maybe I should have went to Mayo in the beginning but it is about 40 miles away instead of 25 and Baptist has a new emergency center that will probably become a satellite hospital just 3 blocks away from my house and I have been able to get some of my tests there. I have began to suspect that my doctors are not all that keen on keeping medicare patients. So far they do because I have been with the primary care who is also part of Baptist for 10 or 15 years.

(Maybe they didn't want to accept Medicare's mark-down of this expensive drug!). My neurologist's office found an infusion center (in Denver) that takes Medicare, and Medicare Part B definitely paid for it.

We are now at our winter home in Tucson, and I called around to find an infusion center, as I need another round. Every hospital I called knew who gives in-center IVIG for MG. I called that center, and they said of course Medicare Part B pays for it all the time.

I'm told Part D will pay for in-home infusions. I won't have Part D till Jan, 2014.
Hope this helps.
