Default Myasthenia Gravis...

Just recently had blood tests for myasthenia gravis. My striational ab test level was supposed to be <1:60 and it was 1:480. Can anybody tell me more? Waiting on call from doctor.

It means that your blood tested positive for myasthenia gravis, so the first step in diagnosing you is confirmed and out of the way. There are many MGers that are seronegative (blood tests are negative), and go undiagnosed for many years. The numbers themselves are not supposed to be indicative of the progression or seriousness of the disease. My numbers are currently off the charts high but I am symptom and medication free and have been since my thymectomy. Welcome to the MG world, read as much as you can about the disease so when the doctors overload you with medical info you'll have some idea what they're talking about.

Hi Boyd

Welcome to NeuroTalk .

My understanding is that medication for MG is often tailored on an individual basis. I hope that other members who know more about this than I do will be able to offer you support and suggestions.

Best wishes.

Hi Boyd
Just a tip that you may get more responses by starting a new thread to ask about MG & Blood Pressure.

Here's the link back to the MG Forum Home Page and then just start a new thread in the same way you posted your responses here.
The NEW THREAD button will be near the top on the LHS

A positive anti-striational antibody test does not necessarily mean you have MG. The test can be positive in MG, and some other autoimmune diseases. I hope you got some answers.

Boyd, You should see a cardiologist (if you haven't already). Work with them to find the right drug for you. Mestinon can raise a person's BP, so let them know that as well. Good luck.

Annie
