I had my ivig infusions a couple of days ago.
I retired a few years back, but was speaking with my new nurse Friday about this topic.
I asked her if she had patients who were forced to stop working.
Her response, none.
I was amazed.
She told me about one woman with 3 children, who is a grade school teacher, who she does every month.
She infuses her around dinnertime, so she can cook for her kids, and her husband can handle them while she gets her infusion, then its off to work the next day.
She also mentioned one of her patients is a physician, an older man, but he still works, and she infuses him around his busy schedule.
she didn't discuss any other details, privacy and all that, but says she does many mg patients and they all continue to work.

I am an Acupuncture Physician in a group practice in Florida. Since my MG diagnosis, I have had to drop my work schedule down to 2 days a week. I work on Monday's and Thursdays only so I have rest days between. I also take 2 rest periods during my day where I actually lie down on my treatment table.

I just weaned off my prednisone and am only taking Cellcept and mestinon(generic) now. I am doing okay but not great. I would love to get even half of my old life back.

My Neuro has not offered IVIG or Plex. He only uses that for someone who is going into a crisis. He considers my case to be fairly mild. I am really a bit envious of those who can get it to live a more normal life. Maybe my age has something to do with it. I am in my late 50's and have a husband who can support me if I could not work.
