Default MG and heart problems

Hello. Nothing new to report for the past year until 12 days ago when a suspected arrythmia turned into a double bypass surgery. Any correlation between MG, arrythmias, and the medicines Mestinon and Imuran? I came home from ICU a week ago.

I don't know if they are related, but I have had arrhythmias, heart issues as well as MG. I haven't had to have a bypass.

It would be logical that mestinon would have an influence on heart rate, but it would be more likely to slow it down than to speed it up. It increases the amount of acetylcholine that is available. Acetylcholine stimulates smooth and skeletal muscle but it actually inhibits cardiac muscle.

I hope you're okay! Did they say why you had a double bypass?

More than likely it was a blockage which caused an arrhythmia.

Some drugs can cause them, but you would have to read the PDF of Imuran.

Do you have a follow-up appt. with a cardiologist? You might ask them about it.

I hope you will heal and never have one again!
