Will do. However, be warned. The timespan is over $200 per mo (1xdaily) The next few days will be trial and error. I'll update in a few days |

Jan, Is your Timespan scored? In other words, is there a score line in the middle? If not, DO NOT BREAK IT IN HALF!!!!
If it is not scored, and you break it in half, you can get all of the 180 mg. at once. You do not want to have a cholinergic crisis! Like Juanitad said, most docs don't advise doing it anyway. Guys, you have to read the drug's prescribing information. Mestinon Syrup can be messy (although I haven't found it to be so) and not that easy to carry around, but you can titrate the dosing far more easily. DO NOT mess with these meds. BTW, you can't refrigerate Mestinon tablets either! Stay safe. Annie Last edited by AnnieB3; 04-11-2014 at 12:19 AM. |

Hi Annie. Yes, the timespan tablets are scored. I took half last night but when I woke up this morning my vocal chords and bladder muscles were very weak. In addition, I had pronounced weakness in my right leg. Conclusion reached, I don't believe this solution worked very well for me. I think I'll follow through with my plan of taking 60mg 3x daily, then a whole timespan at night. If my twitching symptoms return, I'll lower my dosage to 45mg 3x daily with a timespan at night. Back to trial and error |

About once a year, I have a brain freeze and forget to take my nighttime meds. When I get up in the morning, I immediately realize it because I am so weak. I have to take a 60 mg mestinon and rest for about 30 minutes before I can get ready for the day. Needless to say, I don't forget it again for along time. (Maybe it's a senior moment instead of a brain freeze!! LOL

I've had moments like that. Especially in the beginning when I wasn't used to taking meds every few hours. These last few months have been a real learning experience. Every day seems to bring something new. Thanks Juanita |
