There are so many aspects of this disease that can bring one down and dampen one's attitude for life. The best tool I have at my disposal for combating depression or depressing thoughts is gratitude - and so, for those willing to join me, go ahead and finish the sentence:
I am grateful for... life; my wife, daughter and father; the fact that this only affects my body and not my brain; a diagnosis - so much better than not knowing; I slept in a bed last night; I didn't go to bed hungry; my book got picked up; plumbing! (last place didn't have it); a beautiful day; oh pfft...I could go on but it's someone else's turn |

My sweet little doggie, who seems to know when I don't feel well.
My grandkids, who treat me like I may break at any moment. Having a warm/cool place to sleep and enough to eat. Not having the financial stress I have had in the past. Still being able to enjoy simple things, like listening to the birds sing, watching little creatures scurrying around the yard, enjoying beautiful flowers. |
