Does anyone know of any organization that will help pay for a lift for my car to haul a power chair? My insurance will pay for the chair but won,t pay for the lift which is approximately $2000. This is impossible for me as I am on a fixed income with SSD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi -
I would try the Florida Center for Independent Living... they should have a resource and referral person that can help you - Here is a link to their website www.floridacils.org/CILInfo.htm There is a web based resource and referral for resources - you select your state and it will give you numerous links http://www.disabilityresources.org/ Easter Seals has grants for various things and I know there are a number of agencies with grants for assistive technology. I'll let you know if I find anything else. Good luck - Gabe |

Try this one too...looks like they have many links to various funding sources. I also thought it might be worth checking with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (people with MG qualify for their services).
