Default Skipping prednisone 1 day (when using it for years)

I know you have to taper down slowly, and be careful and more.
But what if you forgot if you already took your daily dosage? You can't take another one to be sure, but what will happen if you (worst case and you did indeed did not tale it) skip only one day?
I am currently on 20 mg and been on it for I think 4 or 5 years now, never missed a day

Will I get addison problems or will my MG flare up if I only miss one day?
I know I'm very sensitive to prednisone dosage, even 2,50 tapering can give me a MG crisis, but that's after a few days / week or so.
I feel so stupid not knowing if I took them!

It's not stupid I'm sure we all have done it at some time or other I have in the past missed a day without any ill effects but different people are affected in different ways so it's not advisable. It is just a thought but a small step up in dosage may do less harm so if you think you may have missed a daily dose then taking it again may do less damage than missing it out all together.

Regards John

I believe prednisone works slow.. so if you miss one day it doesn't make any difference.. but as I have read here.. people react in different ways to prednisone..

I only take it every other day.. so if I miss a day there is a couple of days without it.. never felt anything from that..

Thanks both, I just left it, and just see if something happens or not.

Taking 20 mg extra to be sure, but with a change I'm taking 40 mg that day, scares me because I've had steroid psychosis on lower dosage.

I think it's time to buy one of those lovely plastic pill boxes, which show you the day of the week

I have missed as many as 2 day before with no ill effects and was on @ one time 60 mg per day, it is a very slow working drug missing 1 day should have no effect.. if a day is missed..

im on now 15mg every OTHER day and forget at times

I've been using one of those pill boxes for quite a while now...load it up on Sunday and never have to worry the rest of the week!

I'm taking 135mg 2 times a day and sometimes I couldn't remember if I took my daily second dose and instead of taking it I'll skip it till the next mornings dose and the only effect I have is the muscle weakness and leg pain.I've been on it for 9 years

You take 270 mg prednisone a day...for years?

And a little update, I didn't notice any ill effects.

Hi jvaagen,
I 'm as astonished as Ravenclaw, 270 mg per day...?
Just 2 other remarks:
-I always considered that cortisone should be taken once a day mornings...
- the normal maximum daily dosage is 1 mg/kg of weight...
Maurice.
