Default How many MG antibodies and what are the names

I have been told that I've been tested for ACH and musk as well as ACH binding and blocking antibodies, then I went to a Neuro ophthalmologist today who told me there are five MG antibodies... Somehow the mayo clinic and 9 neurologists have missed this aver th last three years. So now I get more tests, yay!

There are 5? wow never knew. I've only been tested for the standard achr and musk. Then again, maybe they tested the others once and didn't tell me because they were negative.

Hi Tony292

Probably what your doctor was referring to are the major classes of antibodies which are linked to MG: those specific for the acetylcholine receptor, those specific for striated muscle, those specific for MuSK and antistriational antibodies (they react with both skeletal and heart muscle).

There is more on this here: http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1171206-workup .

You might have to register with Medscape (which is free) to see that link.

Smile

Acetylcholine Receptor Binding
Acetylcholine Receptor Modulating

MuSK Antibody

LRP4 (no test yet)

SYT3 Mutation (no test yet)

Titin.

Ryanodine.

Striational antibodies.

LEMS tests.

CMS genetic blood tests.

Oh, and then there's the common sense clinical test, which a MG expert should have available at all times.
