Default Acupuncture & Myasthenia Gravis

Hello all.

Just wondering if anyone has sought acupuncture therapy for myasthenia gravis symptoms.

I thought I would give it a try and had my first consult and treatment today. The acupuncturist said that he has seen/and been involved in the treatment of 3 MG'ers in China where he did some of his medical practicum. That was encouraging to me. After he saw the medical info I filled out, he immediately said, "180 mg of mestinon every 3 hours - that's a lot", so I do have faith that he knows a bit about the disorder.

Of course, it does take more than one treatment. However, he was quick to point out that in order for it to be more effective, treatments need to be spaced about a week apart.

He was also very upfront and said, that he "believes in his practice, and if he doesn't feel that it is working for me, he'll certainly tell me, because it doesn't work for everyone." Now that's honesty! But really - I'll know if it's working more than he will, because I feel the symptoms.

I would certainly appreciate any and all comments on the subject.

Thanks,

Lydia

I've no experience with acupuncture for anything. Please do keep us updated on any results you get, whether good, bad or indifferent.
hugs,

I used acupuncture for several months years ago. While I'd notice an immediate change after a treatment (eyes open wider, etc) those effects soon (within hours) faded and I was back to baseline.

My doctor wanted me to come in 3X a week, which I just couldn't do as it was 70 miles away from my home. I did manage once a week, though.

Definitely worth a try, IMO. Keep us posted.
