I was recently diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis. I am looking for information from others with the same diagnosis. I am currently waiting for a copy of all lab reports from this diagnosis so I can get a second opinion. I have also been fighting candida through diet. Could candida cause Myasthenia Gravis? Thanks for any help provided.

Also from the GREAT STATE OF TEXAS, I have never heard it mentioned by anyone on this board, that candida would be a cause of MG. However, you will probably hear from some people very shortly on this board with a lot more experience in this than me. Hope you find good support from your doctors, and the right medication, to feel well. Lets hear from you.

I;ve never heard of a connection between candida and MG. To me, it doesn't seem like candida could cause MG - but I'll defer to others in the forum who know a lot more.

I haven't read anything about there being a direct cause and effect relationship between candida and MG.

Anything that makes the immune system worse (i.e., giving it more things to "fight") can, however, open your body up to more immune problems.

An overgrowth of anything in the body can be caused by insufficient stomach acid. Do you take antacids or acid blockers?

I hope you get some answers soon.

Default Myasthenia Gravis is caused by Candida Yeast Overgrowth
Myasthenia Gravis is a disease characterized with chronic fatigue and extreme weakness. Like most diseases Myasthenia Gravis is idiopathic meaning a disease that arise from an unknown cause. This is untrue Myasthenia Gravis and other diseases have a root cause and I don’t know about you but idiopathic sounds more like idiot to me. I’m not the smartest person in the world but I am sure not an idiot. Myasthenia Gravis is also an autoimmune and neuromuscular disorder. I have had Myasthenia Gravis for 13 years now and I started off with ocular MG only effecting the eye until it progressed to my entire body as generalized. The thing that bewildered me was that 7 years later after being diagnosed I begin to experience a myriad of symptoms that are also related to other diseases. Then I came across some information that linked Myasthenia Gravis to Candida Yeast Over Growth (Candida Albicans). At this point in my life my health deteriorated to the extent I was looking for any answer and willing to try anything. 2010 to 2013 I have been treating myself for Candida Yeast Over Growth and I have improved dramatically.

It does seem likely that in many cases there is a trigger infection, that sets MG off. But not always and not always the same thing. Anything that overstresses the immune system is a possible trigger.

I agree with juliejayne, there may be causes of MG, but to date I don't think anyone has proved a direct link to the disease. I have heard lots of comments about one or another condition, that would be the cause. I hope someday that they find it.

As far as I can see there is no connection between myasthenia gravis and Candida infection.

I searched PubMed (the standard literature database for peer-reviewed papers written by biomedical scientists and health professionals) and there is no suggestion of any association between MG and Candida.

It would best not to be so dismissive of Candida long term treatment with preds
Can leave you open to repeated bouts of Oral Thrush if it gets to your throat or oesophagus you could require hospitalisation as it can be life threatening.
