I'm sure that many of you already know about the MGFA newsletter. But, in case you don't, the Fall 2015 one has a few interesting bits of information.
http://www.myasthenia.org/AboutMGFA/...ewsletter.aspx http://www.myasthenia.org/LinkClick....Ik%3d&tabid=75 The article, "What's Hot off the Press in Neuromuscular Junction Disorders" was particularly disturbing. "In conclusion, the investigators found that higher-dose and longer-duration treatment with corticosteroids do not guarantee better MG outcomes." In other words, think twice, maybe three times, before taking steroids!! And while I know they like to put a positive spin on MG, for whatever reasons, I'm pretty tired of the stories that make every MG patient think that they can go into remission. Sure, it can happen, and I'm happy for those it does happen for. But please only gauge your MG by your situation, not by someone else's. We're all different, and false hope can really mess with one's mind. I'm grateful there's still an organization out there trying to do what they can for MGers. Annie |
