Default Remission?

Hello All:

I joined here in February after being diagnosed with MG. My neuro started me on 60 MG Mestinon, 3 times per day. I had no side effects.

I would sometimes forget my afternoon dose, and found I felt no different than before the diagnosis.

I then started skipping the evening dose, and for the last month have been taking none.

I feel better than I have for many months. No problems with breathing or swallowing. I still have some slight diplopia at times.

Any ideas, suggestions, comments?

Thanks and God Bless.

Default Remission

Here's hoping! That is does mean remission ... as opposed to just being in the earlier stages of MG. And if so, I understand that is most favourable too becus the sooner we are treated, the condition stops worsening ... e.g. moving from ocular to generalized, etc. Suggest updating the situ. with ur neuro and develop a treatment strategy for this phase of things.

I would like to say, be careful. When I first was diagnosed, and put on mestinon, about 4 years ago, I also felt like it was gone.
I told my nuro, he was the man with the miracle pills.
I did pretty good for about 2 1/2 years, still taking 4- 60 mg a day. Today after 2 crises situations this year, I am on pretty heavy dosage. I would not want to change the medicine without nuro ok.
I hope you are not going to have a problem, but be real careful. This crazy stuff can do anything.

Default reillyp and FREDH

Thanks for the replies.

I'm going to monitor myself closely. I worked outside, and around our house Saturday in pretty hot south Alabama weather. No problems.

My shortness of breath issues last year came when I was exerting myself pretty good in hot weather. I am really careful about how much physical effort I put into anything I do.

I notice that I have some minor ocular (diplopia) issues in the mornings as I work part time in front of a computer. I think I am going to start taking a Mestinon in the mornings and see if there are any differences.

Otherwise, I am feeling better than I have in Months.

I appreciate your responses.

Regards.

Default One other note.

I did not have (or have now) very much of a problem with ocular issues.

My initial diagnosis came after the shortness of breath and swallowing problems.

My glasses generally solve the vision problems, but with some limitations.

Regards.
