I have tried multiple versions of statins and it is my feeling they make my myasthenia worse...pain and stiffness in legs and hands. My doctor has recently asked me to take a statin only 2 times a week -- I still think it makes the MG worse. She is aware of the MG diagnosis. Do any of you have thoughts on the issue of statins and myasthenia?

There are reports that statins can exacerbate MG though this does not seem to be common.
This review might help you with this. UpToDate

It has been known for many years that statins can cause muscle pain in anybody, not just those with myasthenia gravis. Some of the statin drugs are worse than others.
In my case, extremely high, heredity -caused high cholesterol has to be controlled by medication, a controlled diet did nothing. Do you see s cardiologist? If not, maybe meet with one to find other statins that are known not to have as many side effects? I take Atorvastatin. Most of my pain is joint pain, caused by degeneration. Lisa |

I take Simvastatin (Zocor) without any problems. Sorry to hear of your pain. Jim
