Cool Newbie

Hello, just joined this forum and wanted to say hi.
I’ve had myasthenia gravis since 2015, and was looking for some encouragement and suggestions on living with this rather challenging disease. I just restarted Mestinon and gratefully the side effects are not too bad.

My big question for now is :
is it safe to take different supplements while being on Mestinon? I couldn’t seem to find any clear answers in my Internet search. I’m talking about taking regular vitamins and some herbal products.

Thank you for any help or suggestions or directions to where I might find answers.

Vitamins, herbs and supplements can affect the absorption of medications. Find out from your neurologist which ones to avoid. (Magnesium is a concern for many MGers).
Also, vitamins herbs and supplements are manufactured by companies that have no regulation and monitoring. There is no way to know what their true ingredients and dosages are. I would steer far away from them.
Our organs are not designed to process and filter high concentrations of minerals and vitamins. Finding what you are deficient in and adding that vitamin or mineral to your diet, naturally, is much safer.
