So I'm @ the hospital today and an elderly nurse told me that in the 60's MG was kind of a death sentence back then.

She said if people didn't die of pneumonia, then they needed an iron lung, etc, and that it has come far............not far enough for me!

Has anyone else heard this?

Yep, my neuro has told me that once upon a time having mg, meant a short life.

I'm happy that we have the technology, drugs etc to help make my life a lot better than all those years ago.

The first I ever heard of MG, was when an actress on Days of Our Lives was DX'ed. I can't remember her real name (haven't watched the show in about 20+ years), but she plays Maggie. I actually saw her today while flipping channels.

I remember the stories and they said stuff like shorter life span.

They say the same thing about ms and they are right about that disease. Years ago having ms was thought to lesson your lifespan. Now there are so many new drugs out to help. I pray the same for mg. I don't know if you remember but my mom was dx'd with mg last year and the dx was reversed just last month by a new neuro.
