Default Thanks All

Called my new neuro and he said the same as you. So I will cut back on my Mestinon.

I found out that resting between work really helps so I do hard work (Yard) then use computer etc. for a while then back and forth. Have not had any problems driving so far.

I can't get over the fact that it started so long ago and I did not notice thinking it was normal.

What you're describing almost sounds like too much Mestinon (stomach and muscle cramping) and too much can cause the same symptoms (breathing?) as not enough. This is called cholinegeric crisis and has to be treated differently than myasthenic crisis although they look identical to doctors. It's best not to get to that point in the first place (DUH). Do you notice increased sweating, too?

Have you seen your new neuro yet? I think it would be a good idea to call either them or your other doc, let them know what you have noticed while on both meds and see if they think you should cut down the Mestinon.

Default Your Welcome.

Morning Sixmile,

I'm glad you called your neuro right away, and got the info on cutting down the Mestinon. It gets so confusing sometimes as to if you need more or less, doesn't it?

You know, alot of times we think this comes on quickly, but then a while after you get the dx you can look back and see where it has been there a long time. I kept thinking I was just out of shape and needed to exercise my legs more so I started riding a stationary bike, amoung other exercises.

Of course, that just made things worse and worse and maybe that's what led to my "sudden" drop. I now can look back over at least 20 years and see the mild symptoms were there way back then.

Good luck with your treatments and just keep in mind that even with alternation, you're still using muscles whether it's yard work, eyes , fingers, or whatever and that is using your receptors up. Mine will go from my legs to my arms, then my eyes, then the breathing if I'm not careful. We are all different, but certain things are true with all of us - sometimes you need to just VEG OUT to let your body catch up with itself.

Take care of yourself - you'll get this under control, I'm sure!

Hi All,

firstly I would like to say Hi to our new Members here korbi doc and SixMile, and apologise for not being very active over the last few weeks. I've been sick and stressed, I had a colonoscopy yesterday(which came out perfectly clear) So now I'm back, hopefully feeling good for a while.

Korbi doc, I know what you mean about your animals, I use to own a gorgeous little horse. He and I had just decided to go places when I was diagnosed. About a year ago I made a VERY hard decision to sell him(to a wonderful lady with our views on horses(he was at my sisters, she helped me sell him), and they just clicked) as I wasn't riding him, and couldn't afford agistment. I do however go out to my sisters, and see our old mare, whos somewhere between 25-30, and a snuggle and kiss from her will make me feel better. I think having animal around definatley help with the healing process. I'm sure you will get back to riding, maybe not to where you were, but riding at least!!!(and when you do have one for me!!)

Sixmile, welcome, I to have had lower intestine problems, I think me and all my doctors have decided its all the medication I'm on, and have to take still more medication to fix that problem, neverending story. I get cramps to intermittently, and am not really sure what is causing those, but they arn't too bad to worry about.
Hope you are finding the forum helpful and friendly,
take care
Kate

This is exactly what happened to me...hindsight is 20:20....my friend has related to me sev'l occurrences that demonstrated just this.....& I'm remembering lots of them...I pushed harder & then fell on my face...

Kate, never any apology for that is necessary, we all run into that wall, good that the col is clear...& I sure will think of you if I get there & update you...& I feel so bad for your losses...that companion animal bond is so important (answered your other post). esp when we are ill & in need....I'm grateful for my animals every day & would be devastated without them....hang in there!!
