Doctors do not like being caught with their pants down. Who does? Then I guess doctors should be honest and cautious and be supportive of ALL their patients no matter what.
As I'm sure Cara will tell you, an IgA level below normal can make it look like you don't have Celiac when you do!!! Have you had your son tested for any vitamin deficiencies? If he has them, then he probably has Celiac. This article is really good at explaining this stuff. I have below normal IgG3 and low-end of normal IgG1. When I get sick, I usually get lung infections right away. This is important stuff to know about if you have a sick child. An immunologist is the best person to see about all this. http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/885348-overview So I guess seeing an immunologist is the way to go. The only way to see if your son will get better is to put him on a trial gluten-free diet. And it may take months to see an improvement! Does that help? Did you get him in to see a pulmonologist? If not, please do!!! And if your son has double vision, then a cause should be found. Seeing a neuro-ophthalmologist is the way to go. How old is he? Annie |

Annie, I didn't know you had a full fledged doc covering for doc story too!
My dr I, for Idiot, had blown me off completely and effectively blocked me from getting anyone to take me serious because I upset him by asking if he was sure one of his tests results were good. Long story, but the gist was that when I FINALLY got someone to really look at me, he thought my problem was the disc on my spinal cord and told me to go to the neuro surgeon that did the level above where this suspected problem was. I wasn't sent there by dr. I, but a different neuro. You can imagine my surprise when my surgeon started the conversation with " Dr. "I' is a very good doctor". Then he proceeded to come up with all kinds of other things that might be the problem, then asked if he could take my MRI to someone else to look at. I told him I wasn't there to discuss dr. "I' and if wanted another radiologist to look at the film that would be fine. I think he took them to "I" though. Then when I went to another surgeon for another opinion, that visit was started with "I have here on my desk a letter from (surgeon), and let me tell you something young lady. You had better knock this off. Your husband is putting up with you for now, but you are being passive agressive and he won't deal with this for long! Again I was in shock - obviously my surgeon found out who I was going to and sent this letter ahead of me. Fortunately, that appt ended with him actually doing an exam, then saying "these boys" had better knock it off and get you taken care of. So, obviously again, my surgeon and dr. "I" were involved in that letter together. Interestingly, that letter was not in my records when I requested them. This is how I started my "career" with neuros. Any wonder I have so much trouble with them? Sorry - another rant - that's 2 in one day! But I kinda always thought I had done something somehow that caused that bunch of trouble. I have since decided they were just bad people covering for each other to avoid a lawsuit against dr "I", but your experience REALLY convinces me! Thanks. I feel vindicated in full! Quote:

I guess this has gotten off-topic. Sorry, Dottie!
All specialty neuros know each other; not only in one state but across the country. I began with a neuro who was quite arrogant and, for whatever reason, had already made his mind up about me before he met me. I got blacklisted from there (allegedly!). He and another neuro began talking to my other doctors too. I had an appt. with a doctor who was not a neuro who began the conversation like yours did: "I like Dr. so-and-so and Dr. Whatever." He had no reason to even bring them up. It was one big wake-up call. Blacklisting is real and if a doctor decides he doesn't like you or knows he screwed up, he will do just about anything to keep from being sued. Even if you have absolutely no intention of doing that! I'm sorry you had to go through that too, Becky. |
