Cool Copying Original Posts

I hope I won't offend anyone by saying this - I do not mean to.

A lot of you guys copy the original post someone makes and put it within your reply to that post. I'm kind of wondering why you do that? It's hard, at least for me, to type on the computer as it is. So when I have to scroll through an original post over and over again, it gets kind of tiring for both the eyes and the arms.

I'm pretty sure that the poster knows you are replying to them. And when you do reply to someone within the post, you use their name anyway. Again, I know this is pretty blunt and I don't mean to be insulting. I just don't know any other way to bring this up than to just say it! Sorry.

Everyone has the right to post any way they darn well please, of course! But double vision and arm strength are a daily reality for lots of us.

Any feedback about that?

Annie

Also, if a post has many replies, quoting helps note which exact post you are replying to.

Since the quote button is being used, the quote will be highlighted. Just skip that.

Hi, Curious! I was actually referring to people copying the original post in it's entirety, not snipits of it that refer to something specifically. A post can get pretty long if a bunch of people do that same thing!

OK Curious and Annie - Here I go again showing my lack of tech skills. Annie, you mentioned copying just a snipit of a post. Just how does one go about doing that?

Hiya Becky,

When you hit the quote button to reply, the whole post will be there.

You can edit out poarts you don't want. Just be sure that the end tags with the [ ] and the word quote is in the middle.

I'll do a sample.

That is a whole quote.

This is what it looks like before it's posted. The red * are put there by me, so that the quote doesn't actually work. I'm going to remove just what I bolded. I made sure that I didn't remove anything between brackets and removed the red *

Confused Here goes.

Oh, sure. Leave my AGE in there . Just kiddin' - I figure I've earned every single gray hair and wrinkle. Every BD is cause for celebration - I know many that didn't make it this far!
OK - I just used the delete button to get rid of everything but the bracketed quotes and the one line. Let's see if that does it.
