Cool I'm cautiously optimistic!

Hey guys,
I have to pass on some good news! As you all know I've been having a lot of trouble with the "secondary" condition. I got my blood tests back and everything was normal except a little low on D still (as of 4/3- I'm sure I've caught up by now!).

Last week I had a VERY bad day on Thursday, after a visit to our family doc on Wednesday - I overdid a little with the doctor appointment, ran by a friends house that is really depressed so I stayed too long and talked to much, then went to dinner with my honey.

I had gone to the docs because of a rash I have that looks just like shingles without the pain, but flares up everytime I flare up it seems. He cultured the rash, and put me on an anti viral drug because he said it looks like a viral rash.

Three days into the medicine, my legs started to feel almost normal. Weak from the MG and having to sit around for so long, but not spazy or like they wouldn't work. Four days and I was walking normally, though not real long, at least I could take actual steps.

I'm trying not to get too excited, but dang! Could I be so lucky as to have all this "other" stuff be due to a virus that they can actually treat?
It would make sense-I ran a low grade fever for a long time and a CNS viral infection would get the immune system cranked up and restart the MG. Shingles goes dormant then wakes up then dormant again, so that could explain all 3 of my big bouts with the MG!

Someone on another forum told me her symptoms were similar to mine and after 3 years they accidentally figured out that her shingles had hit the Central Nervous System and she suggested I have it checked out. She told me the neuro would probably not go for it, so when she didn't I kind of side stepped her with my family doc.

It feels so good to be able to walk without scooting my feet across the floor like I think I'm on roller skates or something!!!!

Keep your fingers crossed for me. I'll let you all know how it goes. I am still going to go through the tests the end of this month, just in case, but I think they'll be like all the other MRI's I've had - nothing showing but an ugly cervical spine!

Love to all, hope you have a great day!

Default That's Great!!!

I'm so happy for you Becky!

I hope this turns out to be what was causing you so many problems and that the antibiotics fix it quickly.

Thank you all so much! I was able to go to my granddaughters final orchestra concert of the year tonight! She was all smiles, as were the rest of my family to see me be able to walk, talk, and sit up without back and neck support! It's just amazing, the difference.

I can still feel the MG when I push it, but the Mestinon is taking care of that. Unfortunately, I will now have the task of convincing the docs so they will keep me on the anti virals. I only have one day left, so I'm going in to him (with my husband to help convince them) tomorrow to show him how good I am and ask his advice as to if I should stay off the meds and let myself crash again, then get back on and make sure it works (I know it will tho'-this is a very dramatic improvement) so we have some proof. Thing is, I don't know if I need a neuro for this or not.

You guys are just awesome - I wish we could find this kind of answer for everyone here!

Love to all!

Great news.... I've been posting about this for years.
I bet I know who told you, too!

I am glad you are feeling better!
